Essential YiQuan
Yi Quan is an internal Chinese martial art that is also often practiced purely for its health-benefits. Yi Quan combines the core of different Chinese health exercises and martial arts into simple exercises that can be done by anybody in any state of health. The emphasis is on the use of mind, not physical strength.
Zhang Changwang:
Your central nervous system rests and blood flows freely in your body, strengthening your internal organs, muscles, and bones. All of your body is nourished by blood circulation, and you become stronger and healthier. This way we develop strength without using physical strength. We simply use our mind, our mental power, to accomplish this."
Master Zhang Changwang has practiced Chinese martial arts for about fifty years, thirty of them dedicated to Yi Quan. He was a student of Yi Quan Master Yao Zongxun, the inheritor-student of Yi Quan's developer, Master Wang Xiangzhai. Master Zhang shows on this DVD how to do the core exercises of Yi Quan.
